Iwatuki Control Centre
Operation 13t Driver
Eiichi SATO (In 2005)

【What does your current work entail?】
I am in charge of delivery duties of discount supermarkets in long-standing business relations with our company, distribution/storage for products to and from maker to vendor, and stocking of DC and TC products for distribution.
In general, 3 to 4 deliveries per day is considered to be a lot. In consideration of the customer, client, and managing underwriter, a reliable distribution function is best served by allowing for reasonable delivery time periods.

【What do you attach importance to in terms of your work?】
In the beginning, I attached importance to fundamental aspects of delivery without realizing the importance that quick wit and tenacity may be used to reach out to customers’ feelings.
I have a high regard for the importance of teamwork; even to the point of thinking of other colleague drivers as friends. When one goes out on the job, a sense of oneness with only the road and the driver exists until, returning to the depot to enjoy the company of fellow workers. For me, this is why the existence of colleagues is equated to aspects of friendship. I feel very fortunate to be in this situation.

【What aspects of the job make it worth doing and what aspects of work make you happy?】
At any rate, I had thought of making a switch, and now feel my worth on the job. I am happy in my current situation.
I have 18 years driving experience, previous to 8 years driving experience with a smaller vehicle.
After only a short period of time upon entering Shinozaki Transportation, I was given the chance to operate a 7 ton truck. Thereafter, only 3 years ago to my heart’s desire, I was allowed the chance to drive a 13 ton truck. I’ll never forget the feeling I had, when I was allowed to drive the 13 ton truck.

【What are the strong points of your character?】
When a driver sets out on the job, a lonely feeling may prevail over most, but I am the type of person not affected by being alone.
Additionally, I am a bit of a perfectionist unable to leave anything halfway completed or evaluated with less than a full spread of 100/100 points.
I am quite satisfied with my present working environment working seriously and taking time off to achieve good work-life-balance. On off days, I may enjoy golf sessions with my colleagues.

Kazuki Matsumoto (In 2014)

【What was your first impression on the job?】
A high sense of cooperation, peacefulness, and a strong consciousness for safety made an impression on me during my probationary period.
Fixed travelling schedules may incur unplanned diversions, due to unfavorable road conditions.
When this happens, the situation is rectified by the coordination from the dispatching administration.
Safety is not overlooked, but not overemphasized to the point of making drivers uneasy and unable to comfortably perform their jobs. The calm state of mind necessary to drive and operate a vehicle is a vital part of the cooperation, and peacefulness exhibited by the company.

【Why did I choose this company?】
I used to work for a transportation company driving a 4 ton vehicle, frequenting upon Shinozaki large size vehicles operating in the Kanto Area. I applied to Shinozaki in hopes of making use of my license to operate large size vehicles.

【What are some of the challenging aspects of your job?】
During peak seasons, the Omiya office may require additional support. Although a lack of vehicles creates irregular shifts and unforeseen challenges, the strong cooperation amongst employees extinguishes any anxiety.
Delivery on rainy days pose some challenging aspects. Despite heavy rain conditions, our customers greatly appreciated our efforts to keep moisture off of their items for delivery.

【What is your goal from now?】
After polishing my skills and knowledge, with improvements in safe driving and service renderings, moving up to a 10 ton and 13 ton truck is the future that I foresee for myself.

【What does your current work entail?】
My main responsibilities in the accounting department are associated to keeping track of utility expenses, accounts payable for all bases of company, and sales expenses of each customer.

【What aspects of the job make it worth doing?】
Data for income and expenditure being broken down into reporting conditions for each customer is not a simple job.Though income and expenditure resolution may be challenging to do for the entirety of our customers and their associated distribution centers, not to mention communication to and fro concerning financial matters can be thick, the basis of these financial figures are useful to hypothesize for future proposals.
Improvement points from documents containing financial information hint to areas of operations where there may be a sense of incongruity. It may sometimes be an “ah, ha,” moment which will affect planning of future business proposition or direction.

【What are some of the challenging aspects of your work?】
The documents may not be compromised in any way. All data required to make proper documentation will not be available, all at once. One must painstakingly take to repetitive inquiry until all data is earnestly retrieved for the completion of the document.
The value of supplying a document with a deadline has an implied value in itself. This is what makes my job worthwhile.

【How do you spend your days off?】
I find myself spending most of my leisure activities indoors, watching movies or listening to music. Though, recently, I have been going out with my senior work partners for bicycle touring.
We usually take a ride, coupled with quite a long distance travelled via rental bicycle. I think it is time that I purchase my own bicycle.

【My comments on job hunting】
Our company is by no means a big conglomerate.During a period of youth, opportunity to explore various aspects of our company is a chance that people may not have at big corporations.
In the beginning, there is an abundance of knowledge to learn and experience. Please take a thorough understanding of one post before moving on to another.
